Oklahoma State hosts Utah State in the first game of the Big 12 Tournament on Friday night.
The Terriers won the game by 20 points with three straight 3-pointers from Brandon Allen.
In the second half, the Terriers added two straight 3s from Josh Thompson, and they made it a 12-2 run.
The first half was a bit of a rollercoaster for the Thundering Herd.
Oklahoma State outscored the Herd 38-22 in the paint, but they were still able to score the final two points of the half.
The Thundering Shed went on a 14-4 run in the second quarter, hitting six of their final seven shots to take a 45-36 lead.
The next 10 minutes were just about a one-way trip for the Terrier defense, and it was evident that they were on the verge of a major upset.
The Thundering Thunders were finally able to take control of the game.
Oklahoma State hit eight 3s and pulled away for a 47-32 lead midway through the second, and that lead only grew as the second and third quarters continued.
The game was tied at 48 at halftime, and the Thunderers were on a 12 point run that extended into the fourth quarter.
Oklahoma’s Josh Thompson made one of two 3-point attempts, but the rest of the Thunder was able to make four straight shots.
The last shot of the fourth and final quarter was a 3 by Brandon Allen for the game-winning bucket with 11:11 remaining.
Utah State had a 48-46 lead at halftime.
Okla State will host Utah State at 8 p.m.
