Texas Longhorns to join Texas A&M and UCLA as new Pac-12 members

Texas Longhorn head coach Kevin Sumlin has announced the Texas-LSU Conference will become the first league in the Pac-10 to join the conference as a new member.

Sumlin told reporters Friday that the Longhorns will join the Pac 12 in 2019, which will add two teams from the conference and four more from the ACC and Big 12.

The Longhorns have not played in the SEC since 2011, when they were the league’s second-division affiliate.

The Longhorns are scheduled to play in the Mountain West Conference’s annual Peach Bowl in San Antonio in 2020, but the conference is still negotiating with Texas to play games in 2019.

Texas has a winning record against the SEC over the past five seasons.

The league’s members will compete in the Big 12 for the first time since 2010.

Texas was the only member to make it past the first round of the conference playoffs last season.

The Aggies finished 15-2 and finished second in the conference standings.
