Maryland Women’s Basketball Sets NCAA Tournament Record for Wins and Close Games

Maryland is set to break the NCAA tournament record for the most consecutive wins and the most close games in NCAA history.

Maryland defeated the No. 10 seed Gonzaga 71-65 Saturday night.

The Huskies have now won seven consecutive games.

The previous record for a single season was 10 by the 1985-86 Wolverines.

The Wolverines beat No. 8 seed UCLA 71-68 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Monday.

The Maryland-Gonzaga game was the Huskies’ first-ever NCAA tournament game.

Maryland has played in the tournament seven times.
