Cleveland Cavaliers forward Isaiah Thomas has been traded to the Brooklyn Nets, the Brooklyn team announced on Tuesday.
The Nets are expected to receive the 26-year-old forward in exchange for the No. 19 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
Thomas averaged 8.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game for the Nets last season, before he tore his ACL in a December loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Isaiah Thomas is a player who can be an impact player for a young team.
He has the size, athleticism and length to be an elite NBA player, and we look forward to working with Brooklyn to help them reach their goal,” Nets general manager Billy King said in a statement.
New York will be able to use the No: 19 pick to select its first-round pick in 2019, which will be in the mid-to-late lottery.
The team will then use the pick on a player to be named later.
The Cavs have a chance to snag James Harden of the Houston Rockets with the pick, but the Rockets will have to give up their first-rounder and a first-and-rounder in the 2019 draft to make it happen.
